In today’s environment it is only common sense to recycle the by-products that are normally generated by concrete pieces and concrete debris. Brockmans now offers a service to demolish, break up, remove and recycle old concrete from old slabs and buildings. The crushing characteristics of hardened concrete are similar to those of natural rock and are not significantly affected by the grade or quality of the original concrete. Recycled Concrete Aggregate produced from all quality of original concrete can be expected to pass the same tests required of conventional aggregates. Once the concrete is crushed and separated from any metals, such as rebar, it can be used for base on a new driveway, walkway, or patio.

Commercial/Municipal Base – commercial parking lots and municipal roads are so heavily trafficked, it’s extremely important that they feature a sturdy base layer comprised of materials approved by the DOT. Recycled Concrete Aggregate meets the requirements for constructing safe roadways. In some cases, contractors also elect to use Recycled Concrete Aggregate as a base material for constructing new buildings. Recycled Concrete Aggregate is a great option for laying down pipe bedding and utilities or improving drainage within a property. You may see construction sites where Recycled Concrete Aggregate is laid down at the project entrance in order to stop the tracking of mud. Recycled concrete aggregates contain not only the original aggregates, but also hydrated cement paste. This paste reduces the specific gravity and increases the porosity compared to similar virgin aggregates.
