More AboutNorth Shore Environmental

North Shore offers several innovative value-added services that increases our efficiency as a company and result in significant cost savings for our clients. These services are outlined below.

SiteView

For the past 17 years, North Shore has utilized SiteView software to manage and track sites over their lifecycle. SiteView is utilized internally to coordinate work with multiple client programs, track current site statuses and daily work activities, develop work plans and scheduling, track costs, work forecasting and annual expenditures, and ensure annual client and regulator reporting milestones are met. All of our staff receive SiteView training and are experienced with entering data, tracking costs, and reporting.

North Shore also provides SiteView consulting services to our clients in the areas of set-up, implementation, data management, data integrity, data quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC), user acceptance testing, and training. Our professionals have the environmental, construction, and SiteView expertise to ensure the implementation project meets the day to day corporate needs of the end user. Former databases can be reviewed and North Shore can provide guidance on data migration, QA/QC of migrated data, user profiles and security groups, as well as ongoing support and maintenance. North Shore is the only environmental consulting firm in Canada who currently provides this service.

Certified Weed Spraying

North Shore has a dedicated Vegetation Management Group (VMG) and many of North Shore’s environmental professionals are trained and certified for herbicide application. North Shore’s certified weed sprayers possess a wealth of reclamation and re-vegetation experience and can develop, implement, and execute site-specific re-vegetation and vegetation management/monitoring plans. This allows North Shore to identify weeds, assess vegetation management options, and apply appropriate herbicides while conducting site inspections, thereby eliminating the need for return site visits. This has resulted in significant cost savings to our client reclamation programs, when compared to supervising a third-party company to perform vegetation management services.

Aerial Photograph Database

North Shore has an internal aerial photograph database which contains thousands of photographs that we have obtained over the past 19 years. This database is accessible and can result on significant cost savings for projects located within the same geographic areas. This is a valued added service we offer with no additional cost.

AbaData Oil and Gas Map Software

AbaData is widely recognized as one of the most useful oil and gas mapping software tools. North Shore has multiple Abadata licenses and all of our consultants are proficient at using this software. Abadata provides our consultants with a wide array of mapping information which allows them to effectively prepare scopes of work and execute work plans safely and efficiently. Some examples of how North Shore uses Abadata includes, but not limited to: watercourse and water well information, route planning and journey management, aerial and satellite imagery, survey plans, licencing, production, and spill records, and underground facility and utility information.

Data Management Group

North Shore has a dedicated Data Management Group (DMG) that is responsible for reviewing, compiling, summarizing, and tracking project related data and documents. As field data is collected, the DMG reviews and tracks the information to ensure that all pertinent information has been collected in accordance with North Shore’s quality standards. Any discrepancies are documented and the field staff or project manager is notified so they can be addressed in a timely manner. The DMG also is responsible for tabulating all third party analytical data, which increases there efficiency over traditional methods. The DMG plays a critical role in ensuring our report writing team can meet tight timelines when dealing with large data sets. This information is used in conjunction with SiteView software to provide accurate and timely project updates for the entire project team.

Remote File Access and Electronic File Transfer

North Shore’s field personnel utilize mobile phone applications, which allow remote access to our internal databases, including SiteView. This provides an efficient process for transmitting time sensitive information between team members and the DMG. We also have the ability to house and transfer dedicated client data through our cloud computer services and secure file transfer protocol (FTP) site infrastructure, which allows for easy access and transfer of large electronic files in a secure setting. This provides a low cost alternative to couriers, reduces paper consumption, printing time, and overall costs.

Technical Resource Group

North Shore’s Technical Resource Group (TRG) is a multi-disciplinary team of practitioners that support project teams and provide senior technical expertise. The TRG has advanced knowledge of legislation, regulations, and guidelines that apply to remediation and reclamation work and are familiar with applying specialized knowledge and approaches such as:

§  Tier 2 Pathway Elimination

§  Generic Guideline Modification

§  Risk Assessment and Management

§  Application of Subsoil Salinity Tool (SST)

§  Hydrogeological Assessments and Modelling

North Shore’s TRG provides project teams and our clients with a compliment of technical, regulatory, and field level expertise. The members of the TRG include Professional Agrologists, Biologists, and Hydrogeologists. Every environmental report that requires professional sign off is reviewed by at least one member of the TRG. This ensures that our deliverables are technically sound and allows the TRG to provide the most viable options and recommendations to achieve regulatory closure.
